I wanted a monitor to use both as an intercom between the downstairs rooms and an upstairs office, and as a monitor for occasions when a family member or pet was ill. This works very well for both purposes, even in a home with wifi and lots of wireless devices that could possibly cause interference with other units. There is one feature that I forgot to mention on the video and that is that you can plug earphones into the parental units on the side of the unit. This is nice if you're using the monitor but don't want to disturb other people in the room with you with the sounds from the room being monitored.When using the monitor there is a blue light on the unit that stays on when a parental unit is turned on. When neither parental unit is switched on, the light blinks. This works well for us when using as an intercom in the office. People in the office know that they aren't being monitored and they can't talk to the downstairs unless the light is on solid.
